The trail first takes us along embankment of the river Sava to the village Čatež ob Savi. The footpath takes us past Illyrian burial mound in the direction of the church of Saint Vitus (Sveti Vid). We walk through meadows into a beech forest, where it is possible to admire some interesting plants, for example hemp, sagebrush, white famine, brown red haemorrhoids. As the trail is mostly flat, it is suitable for different age groups, from older to small children and it is also very popular by Nordic walking enthusiasts. There you can see amazing views of the whole Sava river valley all the way to Kamnik – Savinja Alps, Orlica and even across border to Croatia. From here only one view is enough to capture the entire Brežice – Krško field. After you ring the wishing bell and make a wish, continue along well marked footpath through the forest. Walk towards the village of Cerina and then walk down along the steps, called “babje štenge” to return to our starting point.
